Roads in parts of the Lake District can be narrower than visitors maybe used to. Travel carefully, and if not in a hurry show consideration to local traffic by pulling over to let vehicles by. Traffic flow outside the peak periods is low, and most of the main attractions/scenic sites are served by car parking.
Why not give the driver a rest and use public transport, or try one of our car free days.

The Cross Lakes Shuttle provides a seasonal bus link between Bowness, Sawrey, Hawkshead, Coniston and Grizedale; you can even take your bike on the bus!
