Local Walks

Hawkshead Village website logo

Many splendid Lake District walks can be enjoyed in and around Hawkshead, with an amazing choice and variety.

  • Gentle strolls – with lunch or afternoon teas.
  • Sculpture walks in Grizedale Forest, where all the forest activities make it an ideal spot for the family.
  • The famous Tarn Hows, with one of the best views in the Lake District.
  • More challenging walks over Latterbarrow and Claife Heights with their panoramic views of the distant fells.

A good selection of these Lake District walks can also be done without the need for a car, see our car free days and family days out, whilst a short drive will bring the higher fells of Coniston, Langdale and Rydal within easy reach.
